Ecosoft 30L Water Softener with Clack WS1 — Hard Water & Limescale Protection
The Ecosoft 30L Water Softener with Clack WS1 valve is an automatic ion-exchange system for treating hard water throughout a property. Its 30-litre resin bed removes calcium and magnesium hardness from incoming water, helping prevent new limescale formation in plumbing, boilers, solar water heaters and water-using appliances.
The Clack WS1 metered control valve monitors treated-water use and automatically manages regeneration, while the integrated mixing adjustment allows residual hardness to be set according to the installation requirements.

Why the Ecosoft 30L Works for Hard Water in Cyprus
Hard water can leave scale on taps and shower surfaces and create deposits inside water-heating equipment and appliances. Instead of simply trying to control the behaviour of these minerals, a true ion-exchange softener removes the calcium and magnesium hardness from the treated water.
Water-Heating Protection
Helps prevent new hardness-scale deposits in boilers, heating equipment and solar water-heating systems.
Less Scale on Surfaces
Softened water helps control new mineral deposits on taps, shower fittings, tiles and glass surfaces.
Better Soap Performance
Removing calcium and magnesium hardness improves soap lathering and can reduce the amount of soap and detergent required.
Equipment Protection
Helps reduce scale stress on washing machines, dishwashers and other equipment connected to the softened-water supply.
Ecosoft 30L vs No Water Softening
| Feature | Ecosoft 30L | No Softening |
|---|---|---|
| Calcium & magnesium hardness | ✅ Removed by ion exchange | ❌ Remains in water |
| New limescale formation | ✅ Strongly controlled | ❌ Continues |
| Soap performance | ✅ Improved | Hardness interferes with lathering |
| Scale stress on equipment | ✅ Reduced | ❌ Continues |
| Regeneration salt | Required — approx. 2.5–4.0 kg per regeneration | Not required |
| Regeneration drain | Required | Not required |
How the Ecosoft 30L Removes Hardness
Hard water contains dissolved calcium and magnesium ions. As the incoming water passes through the softener’s cation-exchange resin, these hardness ions are exchanged for sodium ions. The calcium and magnesium are retained by the resin and the treated water leaves the system softened.
After treating a certain quantity of hard water, the resin requires regeneration. A sodium-chloride brine solution restores the ion-exchange capacity of the resin, and the regeneration wastewater is discharged to drain. The Clack WS1 controller manages the regeneration process automatically according to its programmed settings.
Hardness removal is not the same as removing existing limescale.
The Ecosoft softener removes calcium and magnesium hardness from the incoming water. This helps prevent new scale formation. It is not a chemical descaling treatment and should not be described as physically removing limescale already deposited inside boilers, appliances or pipework.
Hardness is not the same as TDS.
A general TDS or conductivity measurement cannot tell you how much calcium and magnesium hardness is present. Correct softener selection and programming should be based on a proper water-hardness measurement.

📊 Metered Operation
The controller measures treated-water use so regeneration can be managed according to programmed capacity and consumption.
🔄 Automatic Regeneration
The WS1 automatically manages the programmed regeneration stages required to restore the softening resin.
💾 Settings Retained
Programming is stored in nonvolatile memory, helping retain the system configuration following a power interruption.
🎚️ Hardness Mixing
The integrated adjustment allows residual hardness to be blended back into the treated-water stream when required.
Clack WS1 valve certifications
Clack documentation lists the WS1 valve to NSF/ANSI 44, NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372, with IP54 environmental protection and IP55 when used with the applicable weather cover. These certifications relate to the control valve itself.
Installation & Who This System Is Suitable For
A whole-property softener is normally installed on the main water supply where it can treat the water before distribution to the property’s plumbing and equipment. The correct position depends on the tank, pump, pipework and water-distribution layout.
📐 Space
Unit dimensions are 32 × 50 × 113 cm. Additional access is required for plumbing, salt filling and servicing.
🔧 Connections
This configuration has documented 1-inch inlet/outlet connections and requires a suitable regeneration drain.
⚡ Electricity
A 230 V / 50 Hz electrical supply is required for the automatic control system.
🧂 Regeneration Salt
Suitable sodium-chloride softener salt is required and must be replenished when necessary.
Rooftop & Outdoor Water Softener Installation Options
No suitable indoor space for a water softener? For suitable properties,
WaterFilterNet can provide a purpose-built insulated stainless-steel protective cabinet,
allowing the softener to be installed in an appropriate rooftop or outdoor location
while keeping the equipment enclosed and accessible for servicing.
🏠 Space-Saving Option
Useful where there is no suitable indoor utility or plant-room space for the softener.
🛡️ Protective Enclosure
The insulated stainless-steel cabinet provides a dedicated enclosure for the water-treatment equipment.
🔧 Service Access

✅ Suitable when correctly sized for:
- Homes and villas with measured hard water
- Properties with scale problems on plumbing and equipment
- Homes with solar water-heating systems
- Properties with washing machines and dishwashers exposed to hard water
- Selected offices, cafés, restaurants and other commercial premises
❌ Not the correct treatment by itself for:
- Reducing TDS in drinking water
- Removing chlorine or organic contaminants
- Removing sediment from incoming water
- Water sources requiring treatment for iron, manganese or other contaminants
- Installations without a suitable regeneration drain
⚠️ Borehole or private-source water?
Have the water analysed before selecting the treatment system. Borehole water may contain hardness together with iron, manganese, sediment, salinity or other water-quality issues. A high TDS reading alone does not determine whether a water softener is the correct treatment.
Domestic & Commercial Applications
The Ecosoft 30L can be used in homes and in selected commercial applications when its capacity is correctly matched to the measured hardness, daily consumption and peak flow requirement.
Homes & Villas
Selected Cafés

Salt, Regeneration & Maintenance
Salt-based ion-exchange softeners require regeneration and an ongoing supply of suitable softener salt. How often this happens depends on the property’s measured hardness, water consumption, available resin capacity and controller settings.
| Item | What to Expect |
|---|---|
| Salt per regeneration | Approximately 2.5–4.0 kg according to the product documentation. |
| Water per regeneration | Approximately 0.25 m³ / 250 litres. |
| Regeneration frequency | Variable — depends on hardness, consumption and system programming. |
| Salt top-up | Check periodically and replenish suitable regeneration salt when required. |
| System inspection | Periodic professional inspection helps verify regeneration, mechanical operation and treated-water hardness. |
WaterFilterNet can supply regeneration salt and provide local support for your softener. There is no reliable universal claim such as “one bag lasts X weeks” because salt consumption varies considerably between properties.
Need drinking-water treatment as well?
A water softener is designed for hardness removal; it does not reduce TDS in the same way as reverse osmosis. Where drinking-water TDS reduction or broader drinking-water treatment is required, consider a separate reverse osmosis system.
Ecosoft 30L Water Softener — Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Ecosoft 30L remove hard water?
It removes calcium and magnesium hardness from the water through ion exchange. The result is softened water with substantially reduced scale-forming hardness.
Does the Ecosoft 30L remove limescale?
It removes the hardness minerals responsible for limescale and therefore helps prevent new scale formation. It is not a chemical descaler for existing solid deposits already present inside equipment or pipework.
How much salt does it use?
The product documentation specifies approximately 2.5–4.0 kg of salt per regeneration. Monthly salt consumption depends on water hardness, water consumption and regeneration frequency.
How much water does regeneration use?
The documented water consumption is approximately 0.25 m³, or 250 litres, per regeneration cycle.
How often does the softener regenerate?
There is no fixed number of days that applies to every property. Frequency depends on measured hardness, water use, resin capacity and controller programming.
Can the treated-water hardness be adjusted?
Yes. This configuration includes a hardness mixing adjustment, allowing residual hardness to be blended back into the softened-water stream when required.
