Description
100L Commercial Water Softener Cyprus — High-Capacity Hard Water & Limescale Protection
The 100L Classic Commercial Water Softener is a high-capacity ion-exchange system for businesses, large properties and installations with substantial hard-water demand. It removes calcium and magnesium hardness from the water, helping control new limescale formation throughout the treated plumbing system.
Unlike anti-scale conditioners, a true salt-regenerated water softener physically removes hardness ions through ion exchange. Correct commercial sizing is essential and must consider measured hardness, daily water use, peak flow demand and the operating requirements of the property.
It is intended for properties requiring substantially greater softening capacity than a typical domestic system. Suitability cannot be determined from resin volume alone; WaterFilterNet sizes commercial systems according to hardness, consumption and peak demand.
Why Use a Commercial Water Softener for Hard Water?
Hard water contains dissolved calcium and magnesium. In commercial and high-consumption properties, these minerals can contribute to scale formation inside water heaters, boilers, pipework, valves, fixtures and water-using equipment. A correctly sized ion-exchange softener removes the calcium and magnesium hardness before the water reaches the protected equipment.
Helps reduce new hardness-scale formation on boilers, water heaters and other heat-transfer surfaces.
Reduces the hardness minerals responsible for recurring scale on taps, valves, pipework and sanitary fittings.
Softened water allows soap and detergents to work without reacting with the same concentration of hardness minerals.
Helps protect suitable water-using equipment where hardness scale contributes to servicing and operational problems.
100L Commercial Softener vs Untreated Hard Water
| Water Condition | With Ion-Exchange Softening | Without Softening |
|---|---|---|
| Calcium & magnesium hardness | Removed by ion exchange | Remains in the water |
| New hardness-scale formation | Strongly controlled | Continues according to water conditions |
| Soap performance | Improved | Hardness interferes with lathering |
| Regeneration | Requires salt and regeneration water | Not applicable |

How the 100L Ion-Exchange Water Softener Works
During normal service, hard water passes through a bed of cation-exchange resin. Calcium and magnesium ions are retained by the resin and exchanged for sodium ions. Once the available exchange capacity has been used, the system automatically regenerates the resin using a concentrated salt brine solution.
The regeneration process restores the resin’s ability to remove hardness from the incoming water. The spent regeneration water is discharged through a suitable drain connection.
A water softener removes calcium and magnesium hardness from incoming water and helps prevent further hardness-scale formation. It does not mechanically strip existing deposits from old pipework, boilers or appliances.
Water-softener selection should be based on measured hardness rather than TDS alone. Ion exchange changes the ionic composition of the water and is not designed to reduce total dissolved solids in the way a reverse-osmosis system does.
100L Commercial Water Softener Specifications
The confirmed product information currently available for this system is shown below. Commercial operating flow and regeneration settings should be confirmed during system sizing rather than estimated from the 100L resin volume.
| System Type | Automatic salt-regenerated ion-exchange water softener |
| Softening Media Volume | 100 litres |
| Control | Automatic volumetric control head |
| Control Technology | Pentair |
| Resin Vessel Dimensions | Approx. 38 cm diameter × 185 cm height |
| Regeneration | Salt-brine regeneration |
| Installation Requirement | Suitable incoming water connection, drain, electrical supply and service access |
Commercial Sizing, Installation & Applications
Commercial softeners should not be selected solely by looking at tank size. Correct engineering sizing determines whether the system can supply the required softened water between regenerations and whether it can support the property’s peak flow demand.
Information We Use to Size the System
The actual calcium and magnesium hardness of the incoming water.
Estimated or measured total water use during a typical operating day.
Maximum simultaneous demand from taps, equipment, showers or processes.
Opening hours, occupancy, production cycles and acceptable regeneration periods.
Typical Applications
- Restaurants and cafés
- Hotels and guest accommodation
- Office and commercial buildings
- Laundries and laundromats
- Salons and spas
- Large villas and residential properties
- Properties supplying multiple water heaters or boilers
- Other high-consumption installations requiring softened water

📐 Correct Sizing Advice
We size systems using measured hardness, daily consumption, peak demand and the operating pattern of the property.
🧂 Salt & Consumable Supply
WaterFilterNet can supply regeneration salt and other required consumables for ongoing softener operation.
🏆 Serving Cyprus Since 2000
Supporting businesses and homes across Cyprus with water-treatment solutions and local technical support.
A single 100L softener is not automatically suitable for every hotel, restaurant or commercial building. Where uninterrupted softened-water supply or very high peak demand is required, a twin or larger commercial system may be more appropriate.
Check Before Ordering
- Confirm the available installation space and service clearance.
- Confirm the incoming pipe size and required peak flow.
- Provide a suitable regeneration drain.
- Provide an appropriate electrical supply for the control system.
- Allow access to the salt/brine tank for regular salt replenishment.
- For borehole or private-source water, arrange water analysis before selecting treatment.
Professional installation is available at an additional charge in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Famagusta districts, including Paralimni, Ayia Napa and Protaras. Free product delivery is available across Cyprus, including Paphos. Installation is not currently available in Paphos district.
Salt, Regeneration & Commercial Maintenance
A true ion-exchange softener requires regeneration salt and water. How frequently the 100L system regenerates depends on the measured hardness, the volume of water treated, the programmed capacity and the regeneration settings.
| Maintenance Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Regeneration salt | Top up as required according to water use and regeneration frequency |
| Regeneration frequency | Variable — determined by hardness, usage and programming |
| Drain | Must remain suitable and unobstructed |
| Periodic inspection | Recommended according to operating conditions and commercial use |
There is no responsible universal claim that a bag of salt will last a particular number of weeks. A busy commercial installation may consume salt very differently from a large private residence.
A water softener treats hardness but is not a reverse-osmosis purifier. Where drinking-water TDS, taste or other dissolved substances also need to be reduced, the softener can be combined with an appropriately selected reverse-osmosis system.
100L Commercial Water Softener — Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. It uses ion exchange to remove calcium and magnesium hardness from the water.
No. The 100L figure refers to the volume of softening media, not the service flow rate.
It may be, but the application must be sized using measured hardness, daily consumption and peak flow. Some high-demand properties require a larger or duplex softening system.
It removes incoming calcium and magnesium hardness and helps prevent new scale. It does not directly remove old deposits already attached to boilers, pipes or equipment.
Regeneration frequency depends on the incoming hardness, volume of water used, usable resin capacity and programmed settings.
Salt consumption depends on the final regeneration settings and how often the system regenerates. It should be calculated during commissioning rather than estimated from tank size alone.
No. An ion-exchange softener removes calcium and magnesium hardness. Anti-scale technologies may change scaling behaviour but do not necessarily produce genuinely softened water.
A water analysis is recommended first. Borehole water may contain hardness as well as iron, manganese, sediment, salinity or microbiological issues requiring additional treatment.
Ion-exchange softening exchanges hardness minerals for sodium. If sodium intake is a concern, or if a person follows a sodium-restricted diet, appropriate professional healthcare advice should be followed. A separate reverse-osmosis drinking-water system can also be used where required.
Professional installation is available at an additional charge throughout Cyprus except Paphos district. Free product delivery is available across Cyprus, including Paphos.
Is the 100L Commercial Softener Right for Your Property?
Commercial water-softener selection should be based on measured hardness, daily water consumption and peak demand. WaterFilterNet can assess your requirements and recommend the appropriate system size.
